Profile: Thanks to my parents, I’ve had the travel bug my entire life. It started when I was very young – camping – pitching tents, having campfires, and fishing at night in Huntsville with my parents and sister. When my parents divorced, my mother took us on a Caribbean cruise to Nassau, Haiti, and Jamaica. When I was 10 years old, my mother bundled me up and sent me on a transatlantic flight alone to spend the summer in London. with my cousin Rene’s family.

These trips were followed by adventures with my mother, Jo, to France, Italy, England, Egypt, Thailand, Honduras, Mexico, and Belize. I have no sense of direction and enjoy getting lost in a city without the use of a map. In high school, my mother and I drove in a 200 km circle around Paris to find a chateau where we were staying in the Loire valley with the Marquise’s family.

The summer of my senior year at Texas A&M University, my mother sent me to Paris to learn French. (the real reason was probably to slow down my relationship with my fiancee and now husband of 25 years) This trip expand my culinary horizons.

When I was 8 months pregnant, my husband and I sold almost everything that we owned and moved to Adelaide Australia with no job, no apartment, and only a sense of adventure.

I created tripwithfamily to inspire you to get outside of your comfort level and fly over the rainbow as Dorothy did – no tornado needed. The blogs will be filled with adventure, practical tips and resources so that you can plan a trip with your family.
